What we do

By taking away the complexity of setting up and maintaining a mobile core, our set of simple APIs enable enterprises to experience the benefits of private mobile edge networking.

Before Alef, there were 2 ways enterprises could deal with mobile traffic:

1. Rely on the public mobile network
All user traffic needs to travel a significant distance out to the mobile provider core, before breaking out to be routed to enterprise resources or out to the internet.
2. Buy and maintain your own mobile infrastructure
To break out your mobile user traffic at or close to the enterprise resources, you would need to purchase and manage an expensive mobile core infrastructure.

Alef gives a 3rd option. We enable you to break out user traffic close to your resources without the need to run a mobile core of your own:

The Alef Connect solution, accessed via our suite of REST APIs, enables enterprises to experience the benefits of private edge mobile networking without the expense and time of building and maintaining a mobile core network. We do this by providing near prem Edge Points which enable breakout of mobile traffic close to enterprise resources, enabling low latency performance for mission critical applications, as well as more optimal routing to private cloud or branch office resources.


Why do you need a private edge mobile network?

1. Real-time Mobility

Wif-Fi no longer meets many of today’s mobility requirements due to interference with other networks and lack of handoff when roaming between APs. A private mobile network has a dedicated managed spectrum and uses 3GPP standard APs that can span an entire enterprise facility or campus, meaning that your mobile devices experience more stable, continuous, lower latency connectivity while freely moving around.

2. Deployment Simplicity

Working with legacy mobile networks is expensive and slow, requiring complex solutions and specialized knowledge and training. Alef’s Mobile Network as a Service (MNaaS) product abstracts the complexities normally required for these kinds of networks allowing you to provision your private network faster.

3. Flexibility and Control

With a private mobile network you can introduce policies that are as specific as necessary — even control access on a user equipment level basis. Set up the access that suits your enterprise and applications, & orchestrate your permissioning to give business critical apps preferential treatment. A private mobile network fits into existing IT systems, delivering the traffic into your enterprise network according to your current policies.

4. Cost and Scalability

Near-prem mobile networks provide a real-time multimedia solution by giving you 50ms or better on demand. The spectral efficiency of a private mobile network is over 2 times that of WiFi and can handle exponentially more data and mobile devices without increasing network latency.

5. Privacy and Security

With a near-prem private mobile network, the technology that makes everything work is contained entirely behind your current firewall. Your data never touches public infrastructures. Each user device is connected to your network via SIM cards that allow the devices to connect only to the allocated spectrum of your private mobile network. This supports end-to-end encryption by isolating and segmenting traffic to different network segments. Simply integrate mobile network security with your existing enterprise networks quickly and easily.
